“But what’s the ROI?”

You can go ahead and file that under “most commonly asked question” for any business owner or service provider selling something.

This is often the thing that your potential clients want to know first and it’s a valid question. I also like to know what I can expect to receive out of an investment.

As a brand and website designer, I get this question quite often because it’s no secret that your brand and website is an important investment for your business.

There’s a lot of time and energy that goes into the development of both, and it’s not just something that you can throw together in a few days… not unless you want it to be done effectively that is!

When I get this question, it’s quite honestly hard to answer because I can’t always prove that clients can expect to receive a certain number of bookings from their new website or a certain amount of new followers from their brand design.

What I can confidently say is that your brand and website design DOES impact and support your sales and revenue goals because when done strategically, this investment enhances your brand perception, improves user experience, boosts SEO (hence increasing website traffic) and leads to higher conversions from your website directly.

Overall, your brand and website are like the foundation of your business and are the things that help you build and become exactly what you want to be.

Just like a house must have a solid foundation before it can become a beautiful mansion, your business is no different!

This is why when someone asks, “well what’s the ROI” regarding brand and website design...

I have to take a step back and help them understand that the return on their investment is a team effort that involves strategy from your designer AND a few factors that YOu impleMEnt as a business owner.

I know that might sound weird and maybe not what you expected to hear, but let me explain. ⬇️

As a brand and website designer, I care very deeply about the clients that I work with. I approach their business just as I approach mine, which means I take a LOT of things into consideration throughout the entire process.

I don’t do things “just because.” Meaning, I won’t design a logo just because it looks cute. I won’t design a website just because it looks cool. I won’t choose certain colors just because they’re your favorite.

That’s not how I roll! My process involves a lot of strategy – that’s my favorite S word. 😏

This means that when you work with me for brand and website design, you can expect it to be done in a way that CAN effectively generate an ROI…

But the design alone won’t get you there. If that were the case, you could just whip something up on Canva and call it a day.

To TRULY get the most out of your brand and website design investment, you want to make sure you’re doing your part, too.

3 Factors that Impact the ROI of Professional Brand and Website Design

3 Factors that impact the ROI of your Brand and Website Design

STRATEGY IMPLEMENTATION

Since I’ve already briefly mentioned the strategy side of things, let’s start here.

As mentioned, if design were the only factor, you could easily DIY your design on Canva instead of investing your hard earned money into working with a professional.

But we both know it’s not that simple.

Strategy is a HUGE piece of brands and websites and it’s important to know that not all designers are strategists.

When it comes to your brand and website, you want to make sure you have BOTH. This is why finding someone that offers an all in one option (like me 😉) will be so valuable for you!

When your design is backed by strategy, you can trust that every single detail and decision is made with intention.

Remember how I said earlier that I don’t do things “just because?” This is what I mean!

A clear brand strategy involves different components that give you full clarity about what you do, your why/your story, who you specifically serve and what sets you apart from others in your industry.

All of those elements will directly impact the copy for your website AND help guide your website design.

For example, let’s say your story is an extremely important part of your business and you know that many people connect to your story before they buy from you.

From a strategist and designer standpoint, I can make sure that your website users are strategically guided from your Home page to your About page so they can read your story and then be strategically presented with a button that leads to purchase.

That flow may not make sense for everyone, which is why having someone that can adjust the strategy and design based on YOUR specific needs is so crucial.

This factor alone can majorly boost your ROI, but it’s not the only thing to consider…

YOUR COMMITMENT

This is where you come in my friend! I’ve already mentioned that I approach my clients business the same way I approach mine – with dedication and commitment.

But your brand and website designer can’t be the only one committed to this thing!

As a business owner, it’s really easy to fall into the trap of believing that
“if I just invest in this thing, my problems will be solved.”

“If I just hire someone to redesign my website, people will start buying.”

“If I just rebrand and hire someone to make me a new logo, I’ll attract more followers.”

It’s this mindset of
“if I’m paying for ____, I should experience ____” almost like a magic pill that will solve all of our struggles.

And trust me, I’ve been guilty of this before, too!

While it would be awesome if this is how life and business worked, this simply isn’t always the case. Now, there are probably some things out there that do work this way, but I have to be real with you and let you know that brand and website design is NOT one of them.

Your brand and website design is one piece of the puzzle and won’t work on its own. To really get the most out of your brand and website design, YOU have to show up too!

Luckily, I don’t want you to have to figure all of this out on your own, which is why my
branding packages include a brand launch coaching and brand implementation 1:1 session to help you know how to actually apply the brand and set yourself up for success.

Quality investmenT

Lastly, a major factor that impacts the ROI of your brand and website design is the quality of your investment.

To put it bluntly, not all designers are created equal. This isn’t to say that all designers can’t produce great work, but not ALL designers can create good work for YOU specifically.

All designers have their own style and way of doing things, which is why it’s so important to seek out the person who is a good fit for you and your brand.

This involves doing your research, looking at their portfolio of work, asking questions, understanding their process AND being open to pay the price that’s needed to achieve what you’re looking for.

I can’t tell you how many clients I’ve worked with who have chosen a cheaper option for their brand and website design just to turn around in a few months to have it completely redesigned.

If you want quality work that lasts, you’ll likely need to invest more money. Now, that’s not to say you need to fork out thousands of dollars for a top tier designer if it’s truly not in budget.

All I’m saying is that if you want a quality return on your investment, you want to consider the amount you’re willing and able to invest upfront!

Overall, the return on investment of professional brand and website design can be astronomical, but it’s not something that just happens by chance.

It’s something that happens when both YOU and your designer are committed to the project as a team and work together to ensure that the design is something that allows for long lasting results in your business.

It requires strategy, commitment and quality choices, which are all three things that I take into major consideration when designing for my clients.

There’s so much that could be said about each element of a brand design, but for this specifically, I want to hone in on color. Colors for your brand shouldn’t be chosen at random and it’s important to fully understand what each color means before you use it as a part of your brand. The best brand colors are chosen with a clear purpose in mind, so let’s dive into the color psychology of some of the most popular colors you’re probably used to seeing. If you’re unfamiliar, color psychology suggests that different colors can evoke specific emotions, moods, and associations. While it’s true that individual perceptions may vary, there is a general rule of thumb associated with every color on the color wheel.
